Somewhere Sunnier - Kits Beach Clean up

RSVP

Show up for check-in at 9:00am. We will be east of the volleyball nets, and our Surfrider tent can be seen on the park portion at the intersection of Arbutus Street and McNicoll Ave. Due to popular demand, please bring your own equipment, as we will have enough buckets and sharing of pickers for 50-100 people on a first come first serve basis. We encourage you to double up and share :) OR bring your own!

In honour of #plasticfreejuly we are going Somewhere Sunnier - right at home in Kitsilano, and this means a beach clean up during the throws of Summer. We are proud to collaborate with local business, OCIN - A lifestyle brand and eco-swim label, OCIN exists to be a platform that inspires our most open and limitless selves, to motivate kind and positive actions for our communities, our planet, and our oceans.

Our cleanups are a fun and easy way to get involved and give back.

WHEN: Sunday July 23 from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM

WHERE TO MEET: In front of 2080 McNicoll Ave intersection at the beach (between McNicoll Ave and Arbutus)– Look for the blue Surfrider tent

SORTING VOLUNTEERS: In addition to picking up litter, we also need volunteers to help sort the items collected into different recycling categories. When registering, please indicate if you are interested in sorting litter instead of picking it up.

WHAT TO BRING/WEAR: We will provide reusable gloves, buckets and pickers – however, we welcome you to bring your own as there is a limited supply. Please wear closed toe shoes that you don’t mind getting a little dirty!

LAST BUT NOT LEAST – SAFETY FIRST: Please do not collect heavy, sharp or hazardous objects. Instead, inform a Surfrider volunteer of the location for safe removal. Always use a stick or trash picker when sifting to avoid sharp objects.
